RELAY FOR LIFE of DELTA TOWNSHIP

CREATING MORE BIRTHDAYS!

St. David’s Episcopal Church

May 21 – May 22

1:00 PM – 1:00 PM

Relay For Life, the most successful fundraising event in the nation and signature event of the American Cancer Society, is an overnight event that empowers communities to get involved in the fight against cancer.  Above all else, Relay For Life is a celebration of life, a celebration of health, a celebration of cancer survivorship and a way to pay tribute to those who have lost their battle with cancer.

One in three Americans will be diagnosed with cancer during their lives, and everyone will be touched by cancer at some point.  By being a part of Relay For Life, you are not only raising money to fund the mission of the American Cancer Society, but you are also helping to raise awareness of this disease.

Funds raised at the Relay For Life support the American Cancer Society’s programs of research, education, advocacy and service.  Through your participation in Relay For Life we are winning the war against cancer.  No matter who you are, the American Cancer Society can help.  As the search for a cure continues, the American Cancer Society is available for information and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by visiting ww.cancer.org or calling 1-800-ACS-2345.

Once again this year, St. David’s is hosting the Relay For Life of Delta Township.   All our members, their neighbors, friends and families are encouraged to participate in the event.  Perhaps you’d like to walk for a while in the relay, or maybe you’d just like to observe and see what it’s all about.  If you’re a cancer survivor, you’re welcome to kick off the event by joining in the “victory lap”, and are cordially invited to participate in the complimentary Survivor’s Dinner.  You may elect to attend the Luminary Ceremony to honor a loved one lost to cancer. There’s a way for everyone to be a part in the Relay For Life!  Pick up a flyer on the Narthex table for further details.

As the Relay host, St. David’s parish will serve the Survivor Dinner on May 21 as well as provide a breakfast for participants May 22.  Volunteers are needed to make both events successful.  Please consider volunteering to assist with either or both of these functions.

A Silent Auction event is also part of the fund raising activities.  Should you wish to contribute an item for the auction, please call the parish office.  You are also welcome to peruse the auction offerings, which will be on display in the church narthex from 5:00 – 9:00 PM on May 21 and from 9:00 AM -11:00 AM on May 22.

There is an information table and video set up in the Great Hall.  Please stop by to explore opportunities for Relay participation:

    • Sign up to join a walking team
    • Volunteer to serve for the Survivor Dinner
    • Volunteer to serve breakfast
    • Contribute to the silent auction
    • Support the Luminary Ceremony
    • Provide the names of cancer survivors so that we may honor them at the Survivor Dinner

Molly Day is the speaker at today’s forum.  She is the Community Representative for the American Cancer Society and Coordinator for the Relay for Life of Delta Township.  Molly will be more than glad to answer any questions.

Thanks for your support of this wonderful event!
